I will update this review in the near future.

First, I just noticed that this item is now $5 dollars less than I paid for it on October 26. It is now $105 as compared to $109. Oh well.

I have not used this item yet, as I purchased it because I thought that my other recorder, Olympus DS2, Olympus DS-2 Digital Voice Recorder was dying after three years. The DS 2 did not die. I will be using the WS-510 in transit tomorrow, and have found that unlike the DS 2, the WS-510 came with what I would call a pouch, and it prohibits using the functions of the recorder while it is in the pouch. It looks like Olympus will cheerfully sell me a case that might allow me to use the functions of the recorder (I cannot tell, because the photos of the cases do not show detail). I can buy a Olympus – Case for digital voice recorder or perhaps a Olympus Premium Case – Case for digital voice recorder – black.

This recorder needs one AAA battery. The DS 2 needed two. I am not sure how long they lasted because I constantly forgot to put the thing in sleep mode when I was not using it.

I am only going to use this for voice recording, and if it works as well as the DS 2, I will be happy.

Simple to use, long battery life, recharges from USB adapter.

Simply the best audio recorder I’ve used and the MP3 player is nice to have.

This a great miniature digital recorder. Small, light and reliable. Great recrding quality and long AAA battery life. Actually it is the third one we have purchased. Olympus makes great products!

I searched for weeks to find a good product at the best value. This item exceeded by far anything I could find in retail brick & mortar stores which is why I love to shop Amazon. Based on other reviews I decided to buy it and it has performed amazingly. The directions are short, easy to understand and are intuitive. It’s easy to charge and the battery seems to last forever. I’m very happy with the product.

Used this the first time out of the box and without instructions. Someone I know had one and they told me how to use it. :-)

Love the slideout USB port, but it may not fit easily into all USB ports or hubs due to recorder getting in the way. The USB port can’t be too deep or inset too far as the recorder will hit the computer and not fit but one way, however it still is a great little recorder. Seems like the battery is eaten a bit too fast, but that may be personal perception. Very easy to transfer files to hard drive and compact design. Would definitely recommend over other recorders. Sound quality was a lot better than others I tried.
